Monster Jam Extreme Mayhem: Prototype to Release

Action Physics 3D Platformer Mobile Game published on Google Play and App Store.

Goals & Pillars:

  • Recognizable elements that make fans say, “Yes, this is Monster Jam!”
  • A game that’s easy to pick up and play
  • More fantasy, less reality: what can’t Monster Trucks do in real life?

What I accomplished:

  • Designer on project from inception to game’s world wide launch completion
  • Led small prototyping team to prove out a fun gameplay that met stakeholders’ project pillars & goals (listed above)
  • Soft launched MVP (minimal viable product) of the game within 5 months to meet stakeholder deadlines
  • Continued designing and polishing gameplay, setting design pillars for creating new trucks and creating levels
  • Conducted 15+ internal and external in-person playtests including using services such as Playtest Cloud
  • Helped the Producer grow the team allowing us to scale up content for live ops production

Overview of Project Evolution:

Initial physics prototype for driving and racing the truck. (November 2024)
Second major iteration of gameplay where we experimented with a fighting game combo mechanic to do stunts
Third major iteration of simplifying the stunts and testing unique Monster truck abilities.
Fourth major iteration with finalized art, first version of UI and stunt gameplay + physics polish. Soft launched early 2025.
Final version of the game (1.0 world wide launch) including new levels, trucks and gameplay + UI polish. (November 2025)
Final game features outside of gameplay; Pit Party, Garage, Campaign mode
